Proposal: Namada Ukraine Regional Community Initiative

Hello Namada Community,

My name is Beyond, and I’m an active contributor to the privacy-focused Web3 ecosystem through my involvement with projects like Nym, Zcash Ukraine, and Web3Privacy Now. I’m based in Ukraine, and I’d like to propose the launch of a Namada Ukraine Regional Community Initiative to increase awareness, education, and grassroots adoption of Namada in Ukraine — a country where privacy-preserving and censorship-resistant technologies are increasingly relevant.

Project Summary

The Namada Ukraine initiative aims to build a local community of Namada advocates and users. Through educational content, social media outreach, and offline meetups, the initiative will:

  • Spread awareness of Namada’s unique privacy-preserving features (MASP, shielded assets, cross-chain privacy).

  • Showcase practical use cases — from private transactions to staking and governance participation.

  • Onboard new users, validators, and community members into the Namada ecosystem.

Why Ukraine?

Ukraine today is a natural environment for adoption of privacy tools:

  • Widespread use of crypto among freelancers, NGOs, and volunteers.

  • High demand for fast, low-fee, censorship-resistant payments.

  • Growing interest in digital privacy and autonomy, especially during wartime and post-war rebuilding.

This makes Ukraine a promising ground for a Namada regional hub, similar to initiatives with Zcash and Nym.

Goals

  • Establish a Ukrainian-speaking Namada community with strong grassroots outreach.

  • Launch and manage social media presence (Telegram, X, Threads, Instagram, LinkedIn).

  • Host regular meetups and workshops to onboard users.

  • Represent Namada at regional crypto events to boost visibility.

Scope of Work

Community Building & Social Media

  • Weekly content in Ukrainian about Namada:

    • Use cases, tutorials (wallet setup, staking, shielded tx).

    • Explainers: interoperability, MASP, shielded assets.

    • News and ecosystem updates.

  • Infographics, threads, and short video explainers.

  • Telegram group for Q&A, polls, discussions.

Offline Outreach

  • 1–2 meetups/workshops during the pilot phase (Dnipro, Kyiv, Lviv).

  • Format: “Hands-on Namada” — practical onboarding and wallet setup.

  • Partnerships with coworking spaces and crypto hubs.

Event Participation

  • Representation at Ukrainian crypto events (e.g. Incrypted, N-Crypto, UAFIN.TECH).

  • Possible side-event or booth (with DAO support).

Timeline: Pilot (3 Months)

  • Weekly content across channels.

  • 1–2 offline meetups (every ~6 weeks).

  • Ongoing community engagement.

  • Final report with metrics (social reach, number of participants, onboarding stats).

Requested Funding

  • Base community support: $500/month

  • Offline events: +$300 each

Expected Outcomes

  • Launch and activate a Namada Ukraine hub.

  • Onboard new users, validators, NGOs, and local activists into the ecosystem.

  • Increase awareness of Namada as a privacy-preserving, interoperable blockchain.

What exactly will these funds go to? Base community support is not very descriptive.

Thank you for the question! Here is a more detailed breakdown of how the requested funds will be used:

Base community support ($500/month):

  • Creation and publication of weekly educational content in Ukrainian (articles, tutorials, explainer threads, infographics, short videos)

  • Management and moderation of the Telegram group for community engagement (Q&A, polls, discussions)

  • Social media management across platforms (Telegram, X, Threads, Instagram, LinkedIn) including posting, content planning, and audience engagement

  • Coordination and communication with local crypto communities and partners to build the grassroots network

  • Administrative tasks related to organizing events and outreach efforts

Offline events ($300 each):

  • Venue rental or partnership costs with coworking spaces and crypto hubs

  • Materials and equipment for workshops (presentation tools, printed guides, onboarding support)

  • Small refreshments for participants to encourage attendance

  • Local promotion and outreach for event visibility

  • Travel expenses for organizer(s) if needed between cities (Dnipro, Kyiv, Lviv)

The base support covers the continuous community-building activities essential for fostering awareness and adoption, while the offline event funding ensures effective in-person onboarding and engagement. This combination aims to build a sustainable, active Namada community in Ukraine.

I also participated in Community Bonfire yesterday, and @Gavinly and I discussed the possibility of retroactive payments in $NAM tokens, but without offline events.

Please let me know if you’d like further detail on any specific part!

Thanks. I’m not sure exactly what to think about the proposal - as Gavin said yesterday in the bonfire, we don’t have any usd source of funds in the pgf treasury (pgf wallet), so any nam would be assumed converted on the market. With today’s nam price that’s around 250k nam you are asking for. Which is a lot. Also, I have a lingering question of that a good part of the base support above really are things that often would be done on a voluntary basis - the asked financial support for offline events is more direct cost if you understand. No firm conclusion on my part, but sharing some aspects.

Thank you for the detailed feedback and for sharing these important considerations.

I understand that at this moment the PGF treasury does not have USD funds, and the requested amount, equivalent to approximately 250,000 $NAM, is significant given the market conversion. This context helps me better appreciate the budget constraints and the need to optimize funding requests.

Regarding the base support, indeed many of these tasks can be performed on a voluntary basis within the community. However, the requested funding is aimed at ensuring consistent and professional content production, quality community building, and reliable coordination, especially during the pilot phase when a strong foundation for sustainable growth is being established.

At the same time, I am open to discussing and adapting the proposal in consideration of the treasury realities, including prioritizing the most essential paid activities or exploring phased funding options.

Additionally, I am willing to consider a proposal to fix the price of $NAM at $0.02 per token, which would correspond to approximately 25,000 tokens per month. I am also open to the option of locking these tokens in a vesting schedule to avoid pressure on the order book and ensure a more stable market.

I appreciate the transparency and willingness to engage in dialogue, and I look forward to working together to find a solution that balances community value and financial feasibility.

I would be happy to hear your thoughts or to propose further discussion.
