There are now instructions in the docs to help you prune old CometBFT blocks and significantly reduce the disk space of your nodes in the cometbft directory. Pls see: Namada Documentation - Pruning CometBFT blocks You simply stop your node, run a command, then restart your node.
@brentstone are there any trade-offs that we should be aware of? For those who opt to use pruning.
On my machine (AMD Ryzen 5, 6-Core, Samsung NVMe), the …/cometbft/data directory was 201 GB before pruning (~104,819 files) and ended up at 1.1 GB after pruning (122 files). The prune+compaction took about 12 minutes. Ive pruned 4,681,008 state entries and 4,681,008 blocks with the tool.
