ZecHub Research: Privacy Best Practices

Intro

ZecHub would like to formally take the leading role in privacy best practice research. While centering on Namada, this research could apply to many areas in the cosmos ecosystem and beyond.

Background

ZecHub provides easy to understand education resources, a weekly newsletter, Wallet Demos, and video explainers on Zcash / Namada / Penumbra.

  • Since all work is open source, anyone can review the documentation for accuracy, create new content and use the hub’s structure to facilitate new ideas that benefit the community

  • This process incentivizes community members to become more active contributors to Zcash and/or adjacent shielded crypto ecosystem communities to come in and eventually contribute to the protocol(s).

  • ZecHub currently rewards contributions by distributing either shielded ZEC or UM from a pool of funds that is overseen by the DAO. The DAO also controls a DaoDao based multisig with funds from assorted “Cosmos” IBC chains.

Proposal

ZecHub’s 3 core contributors will research and start an open source “Privacy Best Practices” guide in markdown for users to protect their privacy when using Namada technologies. Part of this work will help Identify key areas where a user’s privacy may be compromised while using Namada, and zero in on easy to understand advice that is both practical and useful.

ZecHub would also like to include shielded NAM in its bounty program to extend its reach in the namada community. In particular, we highly encourage both feedback and other contributions to help build out this guide and in return, approved changes will earn contributors a shielded NAM bounty.

If others want to help build our NAM bounty, ZecHub accepts donations here:
