We fully support brentstone timeline to close Pre-genesis Stage 2 and the deadline to be October 11 at 17:00 UTC. .
We also support this deadline. Will the dry run start on October 12th or a few days later? Also how long is the dry run expected to last and after the dry run will the mainnet phase 1 start shortly after?
October 12th sounds like a good date!
If confirmed we’ll disable the automatic submission option from the UI interface 2 days before, to allow enough time for the synchronization with github repository and to solve any issue that it might happen.
If you can help comunicating this it would be great!
Agreed! Let’s light a fire
I think we can expect to see at least a few more % of the token supply come online in Pre-Genesis Stage 2, having a deadline will help.
We’re happy to put together a mainet dry run proposal together with TuDudes @sirouk
Looking forward to it!
We agree on this deadline too.
Fully support this deadline
4 Days to go, One step forward to Mainnet! LFG🫠
@brentstone would you be amenable to a one-week delay? that would be a Pre-Genesis Stage 2 deadline of Fri Oct 18 at 17:00 UTC
thinking we should probably launch Housefire with v0.45 and let people take a few kicks at the can for the chain halt bounty before we move on to the dry run
we still have a decent amount more outreach to do, and it would helpful to have more time to onboard stakers. the main friction is that we don’t have full Ledger support yet. they’re moving, but we want to get those pre-genesis delegation numbers up a bit more!
Hi @Gavin.
Your points make sense, and an extension might be worthwhile. We do have the time for it as well.
Let’s see if there are any particular objections but otherwise move forward with it.
Hey, @Gavin
I suggest we maintain our current timeline.
Can we maintain / Follow a concrete deadline for once.
We don’t have a release version of v0.45 (What if the release take more than 2 weeks?)
Given an amount of 15-20 days is a good window for anyone onboard to stake, There was a prior annoucement on Twitter as well that serve as medium for anyone that missed, And then @brentstone mentioned about " you won’t be able to use your Ledger Nano X at all for pre-genesis"
Final question does the new release v0.45 Fully support Ledger. In that case yeah, Sounds reasonable
(If not you’re wasting time)
For us ok to extend the deadline with three main conditions:
-
The code to enforce the minimum 5% commission included in v.0.45 (some validators advertising 0% currently already got a lot of delegations and some in top 5 already)
-
What is the timeline for the full Ledger support? This additional week would make any difference? (Edit: I saw the v1.0.0, expected on Ledger Live in around 3 weeks, so @Gavin this means full Ledger support around the mainnet phase 0 launch?)
-
Kintsugi should remove themselves as the default validator in the UI and leave it blank so people choose a validator. Most delegators go with default and hence Kintsugi got already like 3000 delegators while all others just a handful, extending the deadline until 18th without removing themselves as default will lead to even more centralization
We are ok to extend the deadline
to answer your question, the Namada software isn’t what enables full Ledger support, it’s the Ledger app that enables support. we expect this before end of month
is it that you want to keep the deadline for the sake of keeping the deadline? that’s not a compelling reason, imo
is the reason for your concern is that we’re wasting time launching mainnet? we’re thinking that we should time the mainnet to be just after end of month (when we have full Ledger support), and pre-genesis deadline being this Fri or next Fri shouldn’t affect that
Timing the mainnet right after we have full Ledger support makes sense to me now, and because earlier I don’t see how extending a pre-genesis deadline this Fri or next affects that. I just want us to avoid unnecessary delays.
All good.
Cheers!
makes sense, appreciate the accountability
fyi, i should have also mentioned that we’d like to time the mainnet launch to be quickly after completing the dry run (so that all the operators are primed and ready for a smooth launch)
Thanks for the heads up Gavin! Any idea of how long phases 0 to 4 are expected to last ideally? Assuming phase 0 is in early November, could phase 5 be reasonably expected in December? Thanks
Just to reiterate - extending the pre-genesis deadline will not affect the mainnet launch. We are waiting on support for the app in Ledger Live and some testing / engineering items anyway.
@CosmicValidator I would expect the movement from phase 1 → phase 5 to take a couple / several weeks, so it is reasonable that full functionality phase 5 could be expected in December. Of course, exact timing will become clearer as we let the phases themselves run and see how the network performs.
Sounds like the extension is agreed upon and worthwhile. We will announce on other media soon.
Thanks that’s great. If the dry run will start from around the 19th October then around end October or beginning of November the mainnet phase 0 could start. If phase 0-5 will last around 2-3 weeks, this means maybe even at the end of November phase 5 would also be activated
I think the dry run will take around 4 or 5 days to contact validators and get everything ready. So, it could start around the 23rd and last for 1 to 2 weeks. After that, there will be about a week of final prep, and then phase 1 of the mainnet might happen between November 7 and 14. Phase 5 could follow about a month later, between December 7 and 15. That’s just my guess! .Let’s hope everything goes smoothly for us!
